Village Hall Receives Funding Boost

After many years of conscientious effort from members of the community involved with Alphington Community Association (ACA), we can confirm that a grant of £200,000 from Viridor Credits Environmental Company has been awarded towards the Alphington Village Hall Refurbishment Project, and local residents are delighted that this will become a reality.

Bill Cummings - a long serving trustee of ACA said "I thought I wouldn't see it in my lifetime"

margaret and billJohn Lockwood, CEO of Viridor Credits, said "The Viridor Credits Board had no hesitation in awarding Alphington Community Association the funds they needed to undertake the urgent refurbishment of this beloved hall. The Board was particularly impressed with the fundraising efforts of the group and the support from the community."

The Viridor funding has been "match-funded" by £50,000 from Exeter City Council, from the New Homes Bonus Grant. We anticipate that the building project will take about eight months to complete (hopefully starting in Autumn), and will be in two phases so the Hall can remain useable for much of the time. When the rebuild of toilets and kitchen is completed, the main hall will be refurbished. We will update information as we finalise the preparations.

A big thank you to ACA for providing us with this good news story. If their story has inspired you to apply to Viridor Credits for funding, use our postcode checker on our home page to see if you are in an area eligible for funding.
